On foot in the forests of Casentino …
A tour in the uncontaminated world of the Casentino forests, which became a national park a few years ago. You hike through some of the most precious green forests in Tuscany, Italy. A land that has a strong history of monasteries that worked the land to make it fruitful in the name of the church while at the same time planting the seeds of that which we can still appreciate today. Visit the land that the Medici family used as their spiritual retreat, provided wood for Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence, wool and cheese for the Dukes of Tuscany and is still today a refreshing green heart in Tuscany.
Itinerary:
Pick up in Florence where we are transferred to the Calla Pass, where we will begin our trek into the secrect and hidden world of the National Park in Casentino skirting around ancient and revered sites all the while being sheltered by the impressive green environment.
Difficulty:
The tour is considered beginner level – fairly easy, going up-hill on the first part and down hill the second part. Dedicated to those who appreciate nature in all its integrity and an important part of the history of central Tuscany.
